Home and Garden Expo canceled

Due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, the 16th annual Home and Garden Expo has been canceled.

The expo was slated for May 16 at the Park County Fairgrounds.

Founder Barb Miller said she was “so sorry” to cancel the event, which draws dozens of vendors and hundreds of attendees each year.

“I am very concerned for the health of all vendors, and participants,” Miller said in announcing the decision. “Hopefully next year we can continue the expo.”

More than 60 vendors had already been booked for the 2020 expo. Miller has launched an online vendor show through the Home & Garden Expo page on Facebook, where many vendors have posted links to their products and services.

“So people can still get their Tupperware, Pampered Chef, etc.,” Miller said.

Some of the home improvement businesses also have a link on the expo’s Facebook page.

“Hopefully online helps a little,” she said.

The annual expo featured a huge plant sale, and organizers hope to still have some plants available for sale.

Amid the pandemic, many people are growing gardens this year.

“I had seeds before the seed companies were overwhelmed with orders, Miller said. “... I am glad I ordered seeds early so I can raise plants.”

Miller raises heirloom tomatoes and other vegetables.

“I have people who look forward to having our plants, so I went ahead and grew extras. I will have safe pick up at my house with no physical contact," Miller said. “Times to pick up will be staggered to keep social distancing.”

People can pay using PayPal, Facebook or with a check.
