Gracia Rosetta Owen Christopherson, 77, passed away on July 24, 2017 while a resident of the Powell Valley Long Term Care Center in Powell, Wyoming.

Gracia was born in Deaver, Wyoming, on April 22, 1940 to James Marion Owen and Virgie Nadine Harwood, married Ivan Zoram Christopherson on June 2, 1957 in Cody, and the couple adopted-from-birth two daughters, Gracia Pearl and Lesa Kaye.

Prior to “Ike’s” death in 2015, Gracia and Ike had been married 58 years. 22 years of their marriage were spent living in various locations throughout the contiguous United States, as well as, oversees in Turkey as Ike served in the U.S. Air Force.

Gracia was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in various positions including as a teacher in Primary, Sunday School, Relief Society, and Seminary. Despite her inability to bear children, Gracia was a mother to many. Her daughters witnessed Gracia heeding the Saviour’s teachings, “For I was an hungred, and ye gave me meat: I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: I was a stranger, and ye took me in: (Matthew 25:35.)  Foster children, cousins, friends, uncles, and any in need,  shared their home, and some provided support and companionship during Ike’s military deployments.

Along with her occupations as a secretary, keypunch operator, and bookkeeper, Gracia enjoyed reading, cooking, gardening, and camping with family.

Gracia is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and siblings, Leonard Owen, and Irma Owen.  She is survived by her two daughters, Gracia (Tony) Hancock,  Centerfield, UT, and Lesa Muckley, Cody, WY; 12 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Wyoming Avenue in Cody, Wyo. on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 10 a.m.  Interment will follow at the Meeteetse Cemetery.
