With summer in full swing, sports camps are popping up, such as the Midwest Elite Girls’ Basketball Camp which will kick off Monday at Powell High School.
The camp will be put on by PHS girls’ basketball coach Chelsea Kistler, alongside Northwest College athletic director and former NWC men’s coach Brian Erickson.
The camp will run for three days for kids ages 10-18, concluding on Wednesday.
It will kick off each day at 9 a.m. with the morning primarily focusing on drills for three hours before a lunch break and rest period starting at noon and lasting until 1:15 p.m.
The afternoon will consist of more organized games including 3v3 and 5v5 competition lasting until 5 p.m.
Kistler said that there will be plenty of opportunities for kids to win prizes throughout the day, with her hope being that the kids will enjoy the camp as well as learn something new in the process.
“There’s going to be all kinds of prizes they can win,” Kistler said.
Those hoping to pre-register can find a link to register on nwctrappers.com under the camps tab, but Kistler said that kids can register the morning of the camp as they will accept walk-ins.
The camp comes at a cost of $165, with cash accepted or checks made out to Brian Erickson Basketball Camp.
