Powell High School’s wrestling head coach has been recognized for his excellence.
On Friday, Nick Fulton was named the Class 3A West Wrestling Coach of the Year at the regional tournament in Riverton. Under Fulton’s leadership, the team has shown steady growth, sweeping several duals late in the season and placing first as a team at regionals.
While Fulton is proud of the accomplishment, he thanked his assistant coaches, Juston Carter and Cody Kalberer — as well as his wrestlers.
“It’s always nice to be recognized by fellow coaches around the state, but it’s a staff award,” Fulton said. “Those awards don’t happen without having a tremendous staff. Cody [Kalberer] and Juston [Carter] could be head coaches and could’ve won the award themselves.”
He added that, “it’s also because of the great kids who have bought into the program and continued to improve all year long.”
