The Park County Republican Party is hosting its annual Freedom Celebration on Friday, July 3 in Cody. The patriotic program “has been planned for your enjoyment to celebrate our nation’s Independence Day and the freedom that we all cherish,” organizers with the local Republican party say.
The 13th annual event begins at 1 p.m. at the State of Wyoming Veterans Memorial Park on Cody’s eastern end.
A massive American flag will fly from a Cody fire truck, “reminding us all of our unity and brotherhood as a free nation,” organizers say, while the Patriot Guard will stand at attention around the perimeter with flags.
A flyover with two T-34s will open the program, coordinated by pilot Bo Elwald of Red Lodge, Montana.
Alice and Larry Munari will sing the Star Spangled Banner and America The Beautiful and Pastor Shawn Kumm of Christ the King Lutheran Church will give the invocation and benediction.
The guest speaker for the event is Bill Tallen, a retired law enforcement officer for the U.S. Department of Energy, defensive use of firearms instructor and Wapiti resident.
Dignitaries and elected local, county, state and federal representatives are also scheduled to attend.
“There will be unreserved seating and no restrictions observed,” GOP organizers say. Complimentary water will be available.
“Please join us and your countrymen starting the Independence Day celebrations off with BANG,” said an event announcement from organizers.
