Food distributed Saturday in Cody

Tens of thousands of pounds of food will be distributed to residents in need on Saturday afternoon in Cody.

The Food Bank of The Rockies has donated 22 pallets of fresh produce, meat and dairy products. Residents are asked to line up at 1 p.m. in the Cody Stampede Grounds parking lot, 519 W. Yellowstone Ave. Vehicles should have a clear 4 foot by 4 foot space where the food boxes can be placed.

“There is no requirement to receive the distribution, but this will be on a first-come, first-served basis,” said Park County Homeland Security Director Jack Tatum.

This is the fifth such distribution since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020 and the third in three months. A total of 18 pallets — totaling more than 34,500 pounds of food — were distributed to 490 familes at the Park County Fairgrounds in Powell in early April, while another 22 pallets of food were distributed at the Stampede Grounds in early March.
