At their county convention banquet Friday night at the Eagles, members of Park County Farm Bureau Federation opened their hearts and wallets to acknowledge the passing of a “friend and neighbor,” Lyle Bjornestad.
Bjornestad, longtime Powell area farmer, died Monday, Oct. 17 in a beet harvesting accident.
“We passed the bucket for Lyle after dinner,” said Abby Shuler, secretary-treasurer of Park County Farm Bureau. “He was our friend and neighbor, a member of our farming community,” she said.
Farm Bureau members contributed $1,436 which has been presented to the Bjornestad family.
Shuler paid a special compliment to the Northwest College volleyball team members who acted as servers for Farm Bureau at the banquet.
“We want to thank them and their coach Scott Keister,” said Shuler. “The girls were fantastic.”
With leftover food, Farm Bureau also fed members of the the Powell Police Department in recognition of their service.
