Dear Editor:
I am writing this letter at the request of a young man’s parents.
While attending a monthly fair board meeting in August, I made a comment concerning the appearance of a pig. I was not aware of any pre-existing conditions that the pig had. I did not know the young man showing the swine.
It was brought to my attention that my statement was very hurtful to the family and especially to the young man, who was showing the hog. I have been told this young man is a talented showman and outstanding among his peers.
I would like to publicly apologize to this young man and his family. My intent was solely focused on the animal and I did not wish to cause pain to the youth. I apologize for the pain that I have caused.
