Wrapping up the season on the road the Powell Middle School Cubs made the trip to Lander to take part in the Best of the Best meet on Tuesday, May 9, where the boys’ team wrapped up a successful season against the best competitors in Wyoming.

The highlight of the day came from the seventh grade boys’ 800 sprint medley relay team, who set the meet record in the inaugural running of the event at Best of the Best — with Brayden Benander, Tucker Muecke, Cobey Khan and Keaton Bennett setting the record in 1:59.2.

Bennett also found success individually and was the only solo victor for the seventh grade squad, taking first place in the pole vault clearing 8 feet — while also placing fourth in the 100 hurdles (16.42) and the 200 hurdles (29.91).
