Coronavirus: Why?

Dear Editor:

The U.S.A. is referred to as God’s nation! We believe it was founded on God’s laws and principles, and guided by the Constitution as established by the Founding Fathers. Are we being judged?

Based on facts, the Democratic Congress found the president guilty of violations and impeached him. The Senate determined beforehand and blatantly declared, no matter what, that they would not follow the Congress and would acquit the president, and that they did! Are we now being judged for that action?

The Bible has numerous examples of how God judged people and nations for their gross evil — sometimes even blotting out entire nations! Read the history of the kings of Israel and Judah and how God dealt with those peoples for about 700 years. Their history is found in the books of Kings and Chronicles in any good Bible. For an example of how God deals with people, see 2 Chronicles: 15.

Unfortunately, the innocent seems always to pay a price for the evils of the guilty, often with suffering, pain and even death.

Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord (Proverbs 12:22). The record shows that the president has told more than 16,000 lies since being in office! According to the Gospel of John 8:44, the devil is the originator and father of lies and murder.

Is the coronavirus problem a judgment of the sinful course of the nation and the world?
