Two-Year Project Will Improve Patient Care & Provider Experience

CODY — Cody Regional Health, a health care system serving Northwest Wyoming, is completing a system-wide launch of its new Electronic Health Record system called EPIC starting on October 1. The simultaneous go-live will encompass all of CRH’s medical clinics around the Big Horn Basin Region, which will exchange secure patient records across a single sharing platform. The EPIC system is made possible partly through a partnership with St. Vincent Healthcare, now part of Intermountain Healthcare.

“The team has been working diligently for two years to prepare for this enhanced system,” said Doug McMillan, CEO of CRH Health System. “While it is a very complex process, the benefits of Epic will improve the health of our patients and provide greater support to our clinical teams.” We are excited to start the transition to the new EPIC system at CRH.  Epic will allow patients to easily navigate and view their own records. This is one more way CRH is striving to make our patients experience with us a positive one”

CRH patients will be able to use a new digital tool called CRH MyChart, allowing them to easily locate personal health information on demand. They will also be able to communicate more easily with their doctor, complete health care questionnaires before their visit, schedule appointments, and be more involved in managing their overall health.

“We want to thank our patients, residents and clients in advance who take advantage of CRH services for their patience as we go through this transition,” states Jennifer Jones, CRH Information Services Director. In order to ensure our patient records are as up to date as possible, we would like to remind our community members to bring in patient identification and insurance cards.

Jen Alderfer, president of St. Vincent Healthcare and Market President of the Intermountain Montana and Wyoming market, added, “Our partnership with Cody Regional Health is an exciting extension of St Vincent Healthcare commitment to collaborating with local partners and providing continuity of care to residents throughout northern Wyoming and Montana.”

EPIC will replace Meditech, CRH’s current medical record and patient billing software. Hundreds of CRH employees have worked diligently on this key initiative since 2020. According to EPIC, hospitals and health systems that use their software hold medical records of 54 percent of patients in the United States.
