Club Dauntless to expand into Cody

Club Dauntless is planning another location in Cody.

The new gym will be constructed on Big Horn Avenue near Whitlock Motors. The facility is in the planning phase, and owner Stacy Bair said they’re still working out a lot of the details.

The facility will be a bit larger than the Powell location and will include three group exercise areas. This includes a cycle studio, traditional aerobics, and yoga and aerial classes, which is a fitness activity using silk hammocks for strength training, balance and posture work.

The weight room will be larger than the Powell location, and it will have increased capacity for cardio. The facility will also have bouldering equipment — which is like a climbing wall, but climbers move laterally rather than vertically.

Since memberships to the gym are good at any location, this new equipment will be available to all Club Dauntless members.

“The Powell members will get to enjoy the bouldering too,” Bair said.

The timeline for opening day remains uncertain. The construction industry is facing a lot of challenges with supply trying to meet demand, and even steel structures like the Dauntless gyms are impacted.

Bair said materials she ordered for a steel building in her backyard normally take six weeks to arrive, but the company gave her an October delivery date.

“That’s giving me some concerns,” she said.

Usually, Bair said, they start construction in spring and “push, push push” to have the gyms open in November. With the uncertainty of lead times on materials, it doesn’t appear that will happen with the new location. Despite all challenges and uncertainties, Bair said Cody will eventually have a Dauntless location.

“We’re going to keep pushing forward with it,” Bair said.
