Clorous (Hubbell) was born April 27, 1919, in Cowley to Guy and Carrie (Shumway) Hubbell. She went to be with her family in heaven on Feb. 12, 2020, at Morning Star Senior Living, in Billings, Montana. Ron, Sharon, granddaughter Kathy and Bruce Ochs were at her side at the time of death. She was able to have face time with her granddaughters and family members before passing.

She graduated from Cowley High School and went to cosmetology school in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She worked cutting hair in Lovell and Powell. She moved to California with her sisters and worked in the civil defense programs during the war years driving a forklift.

Before the war Clorous and her sisters would go to the dances in Powell, where she met Bill Franks. He wanted to know her name and she refused to tell him. So he told her he would call her “Susie Q with eyes of blue” and the nickname stuck. On June 29, 1946, Bill and Clorous were married.

They made Powell their home and Clorous worked in a beauty shop. When they started their family, Clorous chose to stay home and raise their family. She was involved in the Girl Scouts and 4-H. She enjoyed sewing, cooking and baking. When the kids were in school she became the head baker for the high school in Powell.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Guy and Carrie Hubbell, seven brothers and sisters, her husband William (Bill) Franks, and her daughter Deborah.

She is survived by sons, Floyd (Lola) Franks of Pullayup, Washington, Terry (Sue) Franks of Cody, and Ronald Franks of Billings; daughter Sharon of Billings; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Burial will be at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell on April 25, 2020, at noon and a celebration of Clorous’s life will follow graveside services, at the Senior Citizens Center at 1:00 p.m.
