Christmas concerts begin next week

Students will perform throughout December

It’s beginning to sound a lot like Christmas. From jazzy jingles to holy hymns, Powell students will perform a wide range of holiday melodies in the weeks leading up to Christmas.

Schools will present the following holiday concerts at the Powell High School Auditorium (unless otherwise noted):

On Monday, Dec. 2, Powell High School band, choir and guitar students will perform at 7:30 p.m.

Powell Middle School’s band and choir students will present their holiday concert at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 3.

Parkside Elementary School will present its Christmas program at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 5.

On Monday,  Dec. 9, jazz musicians from Powell Middle School and Powell High School will perform at 7 p.m. at the PHS Commons.

The annual Vespers concert begins at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 11 at First United Methodist Church on West Second Street. Choirs from PHS and Northwest College will join together for the candlelit concert, a local holiday favorite.

Westside Elementary School’s holiday program begins at 6:45 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12. Kindergarten, second-grade and fourth-grade students will take the stage first. Beginning at 7:30 p.m., first-, third- and fifth-grade students will perform.

Clark students will perform the play “A Prehistoric Christmas” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 17 at Clark Elementary School.

On Thursday, Dec. 19, Southside Elementary School will present its Christmas program beginning at 6:45 p.m. with kindergarten, second-grade and fourth-grade students. Starting at 7:30 p.m., first-, third- and fifth-grade students will take the stage.
