Children’s polka musician to perform in Powell and Cody

Nationally known accordion player and children’s polka musician Mike Schneider (a.k.a. Uncle Mike) will perform his Pint Size Polkas program in Cody and Powell on Wednesday, July 21.

Schneider’s trip is being hosted by the Park County Library System, with his first stop being a 10 a.m. show at the Cody Library. He’ll then move on to Powell’s Washington Park for a 1 p.m. performance.

Schneider, of Clinton, Wisconsin, began performing professionally in 1996. At his wife Heather’s suggestion, he began his Pint Size Polkas venture as Uncle Mike, releasing the Pint Size Polkas Volume One CD in 2008. Since that time, he has performed more than 1,000 shows across the United States, bringing a whole lot of fun, culture and education to children and their families with his program.

Uncle Mike educates on concepts like occupations, relationships, personal hygiene and foreign language through the happy sounds of polka music. Audience participation is encouraged through numerous sing-along and volunteer opportunities, including the “Chicken Dance,” and a theme-fitting edition of “Name that Tune.”

These events are free and open to the public.

“There will be magic, comedy and music to make all ages smile,” event organizers said.
