Charity softball game postponed until 2021

A planned charity softball game — which would have brought celebrities to Cody on June 12-13 as a fundraiser for cancer research — has been postponed one year due to uncertainty surrounding the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Dates of June 18-19, 2021 have been set for the rescheduled event.

“I am really sorry this has been postponed,” said organizer Ryan Brown of Cody, “but with the uncertainty of COVID-19 and trying to ensure the safety of our celebrities and spectators, we feel this is the right decision. We are looking forward to making next year even bigger and better.”

About 1,100 tickets had been sold to the “Celebrities Against Cancer” softball game, which had attracted former professional baseball and football players, as well as celebrities Harrison Ford and Kanye West, among others.

Brown had aimed to raise $50,000 for Cody Regional Health’s Big Horn Basin Cancer Center and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Cody Regional Health Foundation said refunds to ticket purchasers can be made through the organization’s website.

The delay “gives me another year to make it even better,” Brown said.
