Cedarwood residents agree on keeping park

Posted

Dear Editor:

My thanks to the Rosewood Corporation for welcoming me to Wyoming! The purpose of this letter is simply to clarify some of my points raised by Brad and Mary Lou Cummings regarding my letter on the city park on Phase IV of the Cedarwood Subdivision.

Firstly, what would have been the point of asking Mr. Zack Thorington if the city wanted to maintain another park unless Rosewood Corporation wanted to “buy it” and develop it into lots?

Secondly, Westside school is just that, a school. It is NOT a public park. The 4.84 acres the city owns south of Lane 9 is approximately 0.5 miles away. There is no city park in close proximity to the residents of Cedarwood. After speaking with many of my friends and neighbors, more than 35 strongly agreed by signing my petition to keep lot 95 as a future city park.

Finally, upon listening to the audio portion of the City of Powell’s council minutes from the Oct. 7 meeting, the bulk of the discussion around this topic is to figure out how to evaluate the cost of the land, and by rational deduction, to ascertain a selling price.

It is upon these facts and reasonable assumptions that I authored my letter.

I, too, feel blessed to live in the great state of Wyoming. I moved here to a better way of life and am confident that native and non-natives can live here in harmony.

Sincerely,

Donald H. Seagreaves

Powell
