After winning 15 of their first 16 matches, the Panther boys find themselves firmly in the driver's seat on the final day of the state tennis tournament.

All three Powell High School boys doubles teams and No. 2 singles player Dylan Preator will play for state titles on Saturday while No. 1 singles player Jesse Brown will battle for third.

Going into the final matches, the Powell boys sit at the top of the leaderboard with 32 points. Campbell County trails with 20.5 points, followed by Kelly Walsh's 18 points.

The Panthers put themselves in prime position after tearing through the brackets on Thursday and Friday, winning their first 14 matches.

Jesse Brown won his first two matches (crushing Rock Springs' Nico Woolsey (6-0, 6-0) and Thunder Basin's Jackson Voigt (6-2, 6-1)), before falling to Laramie's Kyle Moore in split sets (6-3, 4-6, 6-3). However, Brown rebounded with a win over Cheyenne Central's Eli Norgauer (8-4) to advance to the third-place contest.

Preator beat opponents from Rock Springs (6-0, 6-0), Kelly Walsh (6-3, 3-6, 6-2) and Sheridan (6-4, 6-4) to make the No. 2 singles championship match. He’s looking to defend his title from a year ago.

At No. 1 doubles, Aidan Jacobsen and Justin Vanderbeek took down teams from Rock Springs (6-1, 7-5), Green River (6-4, 6-2) and Kelly Walsh (6-4, 6-3).

No. 2 doubles players Grant Dillivan and Ethan Bartholomew, meanwhile, defeated duos from Cheyenne East (6-0, 6-1), Sheridan (6-4, 6-2) and Cheyenne Central (7-5, 6-2).

Similarly, No. 3 doubles players Jay Cox and Logan Brown breezed through the first two days with wins over Cheyenne South (6-1, 6-2), Laramie (6-1, 6-0) and Thunder Basin (6-1, 6-1).

Meanwhile, the Lady Panthers have wrapped up their season. No. 3 doubles players Whitney Hull and Kaili Wisniewski picked up a pair of wins before being eliminated, while No. 2 singles player Ashley Dunkerley, No. 1 doubles players Hailee Paul and Sophe Morrow and No. 2 doubles players Sami Cole and Sydnee Thompson all collected one win.

The Powell girls entered Saturday in a tie for 12th, with four points.
