B.J. ‘Red’ McIntosh

B.J. “Red” McIntosh died July 30, 2017, at his home in Powell. He was 92.

He was born on Aug. 24, 1924, in Burlington, to Ira and Florence Adella Yorgason McIntosh.

Red graduated from Burlington High School, and went on to serve in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He served as a B-17 tail gunner.

Red married the love of his life, Jill Leonard, on Feb. 2, 1945, in Avon Park, Florida. They made their home in Greybull.

The couple enjoyed 72 years of marriage, and made their home in Powell after retirement.

Red was self-employed as a fuel distributor. He also served as a volunteer fireman and was a member of the Elks.

His hobbies included fly fishing and golf, and he also served as a softball umpire.

He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Maxine Shanor, Gertrude Vogelsburg, Udell, Donald, Iris Lunt and Eugene.

Red is survived by his wife Jill McIntosh of Powell; sons Kip (Cindy) McIntosh of Greybull and Dane (Derla) McIntosh of Powell; brothers Gordon, Robert, Howard and Duane; sister Eleanor Bates; five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

A private family gathering will be held to remember Red.
