Officials at Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area are seeking four people to serve as artists in residence at the canyon in 2020.
Bighorn Canyon is now taking applications for two-week residencies. Artists in the program will be able to discover and interpret Bighorn Canyon through their own creative projects; writers, sculptors, musicians, composers, photographers, painters, culinary and performing artists are all welcome to apply. They must submit a resume, online links or photos of their work and a letter of intent. The letter should explain why the artist is interested in helping to preserve Bighorn Canyon’s resources through their work.
Housing in 2020 is limited. Available housing dates are: March 29 to May 9, and Sept. 13 to Oct. 31. During the summer months, artists may bring their own RV and a camping site will be provided.
Applications can be found online at www.nps.gov/bica/getinvolved/supportyourpark/artist-in-residence.htm. Applications must be emailed or mailed in by Jan. 31.
For more information, call Christy Fleming at 307-548-5406 or email her at Christy_Fleming@nps.gov. Since starting the program in 2014, artists from across the country and from many different backgrounds have used their talents to showcase the canyon.
