This month, we recognize National Library Week, April 7-12. This is just a fun week to remind everyone about all the resources, materials and wonderful programming we offer at all three of our Park County libraries.
Park County libraries will be a major part of the Home & Garden Show held at the Park County Fairgrounds on Friday, April 25 from 1-6 p.m. and Saturday, April 26 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The library will have our Outreach Van there, with seeds, crafts, a Friends of the Library Book Sale and lots of fun. We will also be hosting a talk by Mary McKinney of Park County Weed and Pest at 2 p.m. on Friday in Homesteader Hall. Join us for outdoor Storytime at 2-4 p.m. on Friday and 11a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday.
The Park County Library Foundation is hosting its third Night at the Library fundraising event from 6:30-9:30 p.m. on Friday, April 11 at the Powell Library. This event highlights four books, with themed drinks, food and areas in the library decorated to feel like you stepped inside the pages of the book with fun games. The four books this year are: “True Grit” by Charles Portis, “Treasure Island” by Robert Louis Stevenson, “The Godfather” by Mario Puzo and “Pride and Prejudice” by Jane Austen. Tickets are on sale at all libraries and at parkcountylibrary.org. All funds raised go to support the Park County libraries.
The Powell Library is offering Beginning Crochet for all ages. Join us at 6 p.m. on Monday, April 7 to start learning how to crochet.
Join us from 3-6 p.m. on Thursday, April 14 to Learn Japanese Calligraphy hosted by Heart Mountain Interpretive Center Japanese Outreach Initiative Coordinator Haruka Takaku. Space is limited so signups are required.
If you’re interested in exploring your family history sign up for Family History Friday starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, April 11.
Craft time for all ages will be from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, April 11. Participants will paint Styrofoam Easter eggs. This fun craft is for all ages, adults, kids and families. Then, join us at 3:30 p.m. on April 22 to make pinecone bird feeders.
Craft time for ages 10 and up will be from 1-3 p.m. on Friday, April 18. Join us and make twirly gigs.
A Board Game Afternoon for ages 10 and up will be at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 4.
Grab your Altered Book Club kit after April 9 and create a hanging book mobile.
Join us for Adult Craft Night at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 17 to make your own pinecone bouquets. Adult Craft Night will be at the Powell Elks Lodge at 581 Clark St.
Come to the library at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, April 22 for “Stay Safe in Bear Country” presented by Wyoming Game & Fish Bear Wise Coordinator Mark Aughton.
Powell Library is offering three different book discussions for all your literary tastes; all book discussions meet at the Homesteader Hall meeting room. Tuesday Afternoon Book Discussion meets at 2 p.m on April 8 where we will be discussing “Cutting for Stone” by Abraham Verghese. Join us for Fiction to Film Book Discussion at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 10 to discuss “Big Little Lies” by Liane Moriarty. The Tuesday evening book group will meet at 6 p.m. April 29 to discuss “The Measure” by Nikki Erlick.
Powell Library is offering Tech Tuesday; sign up for a one-on-one session with Park County Library IT who can help you with your device problems. Tech Tuesday will be on April 15 sign ups required.
Homeschool Hour is from 1:30-2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9.
Bring the kids to the Powell Library for our wonderful children’s programming. Lego afternoon will be at 1 p.m. on Monday, April 21. We will have Baby/Toddler Time at 10:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Join us at 10:30 a.m. every Wednesday for Storytime. Parents remember we have Early Literacy Kits as well as Tonies for checkout. Also sign up your child for 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. Make sure and check out the new book at the Storywalk at Homesteader Park. This month’s story is “Not a Book About Bunnies” by Amanda Henke.
