Anna E. Nielsen, 95, died peacefully at the Powell Valley Care Center on Sept. 15, 2020.

Anna was born in Humansville, Missouri, on July 10, 1925, to Mary (Pennington) Oldham and Norm Oldham. After her parents divorced, Anna, her mother, and grandmother moved to Powell to be close to family.

Anna attended Powell schools and graduated in 1944. After graduation, she worked for Project Telephone, First National Bank, and Bonners Variety Store.

On Oct. 24, 1944, Anna and Robert Nielsen were married in Billings, Montana.

Mom enjoyed cooking holiday meals and Sunday dinners for her family. One of the fondest memories were the pies and cakes that were present at meal time. In later years, Mom enjoyed going to lunch with friends and the North End ladies.

Anna is survived by her six children, Janice (Jay) Hicks of Powell, Lawrence (Deb) Wayne of Powell, Barbara (Mark) Engel of Vancouver, Washington, and Jim and Donnie of Powell. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and six step-great-grandchildren. Anna is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Charlotte Berryman of Powell, Edna Caslick of Powell, Emma Morris of Bellview, Washington, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Anna was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; siblings, Imogene McQuade, Dora Holcomb, Bill Berryman, and Tom Berryman.

Cremation has taken place and per Mom’s wishes, no services are planned.
