Alayne was born to Arleene (Owens) and Glenn Coorough on Aug. 5, 1941 in Powell, Wyoming. She died on Aug. 9, 2024 in Kalispell, Montana.
Alayne attended school in Powell, graduating from Powell High School in 1959. She married her high school sweetheart, Alan Jones, on Aug. 27, 1961 and they were married for 60 years. They attended Northwest Community College together and went to the University of Wyoming, living in married student housing, graduating from the business college together in 1963. Also in 1963, they welcomed their first child, LeAnne, into their family in Thermopolis, Wyoming. In 1966, Mitch joined their family after they moved back to Powell.
Alayne spent her life raising her children and working alongside her husband in their family business, Dick Jones Trucking. She enjoyed reading and was a great cook. Large family gatherings were a regular event in her home.
She was involved in the community as a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, PEO Sisterhood and was a volunteer with PVHC Auxiliary. Following her grandchildren in their activities was a highlight. In her retirement, she and Alan enjoyed traveling around the United States and ultimately spending summers in the Flathead Valley of Montana.
Alayne's greatest joys in life were her grandchildren. She loved them each in their own unique way. The highlight of her final months was welcoming her great-grandson into the world.
She will be remembered as a kind soul with a generous heart. She'd want everyone to remember, “There's always room for dessert!”
Alayne was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, infant brother Gary, and brother and sister-in-law Jim and Teresa Coorough. Alayne is survived by her children, LeAnne (Tim) Kindred of Powell and Mitch (Anne) Jones of Bigfork, Montana, her grandchildren, Sara and Lindsay Kindred of Powell and Columbia Falls, Montana, and Maddy (Joel) Snipes and Zac Jones of Bigfork, Montana, and great-grandson, Mason Snipes.
