Agri-Entertainment Tent offers daily activities for kids

The Park County Fair is rooted in agriculture, and kids will have opportunities to learn about soil, plants, bees and more at the new Agri-Entertainment Tent.

“We hope that families learn more about all that agriculture provides for our daily lives,” said Tycee Brown, 4-H and youth development educator for Park County.

Families are encouraged to stop by the tent for free demos, fun activities and ag info. Activities will be geared toward kids ages 8-12, but are open to all youth, Brown said.

Located in the McDonald’s Kids Zone at the fair, the Agri-Entertainment Tent will be open throughout the day, with informal posters on display. The Cody Conservation District will have lessons at 10 a.m. daily throughout fair week.

On Wednesday, kids can learn about edible soils at 2 p.m., followed by leather tooling at 5 p.m. Thursday’s lessons include bees at 2 p.m. and fly-tying at 5 p.m. On Friday, kids can learn about planting at 2 p.m. Finishing out the week will be an ice-cream-in-a-bag activity at 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Agri-Entertainment Tent is a partnership with UW Extension/4-H and the Park County Fair Board, to help increase knowledge and awareness of agriculture.
