2020 hunting seasons subject of local meetings

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department will host information-gathering meetings in Powell and Cody next in preparation for the development of 2020 hunting season proposals.

The department will host one public meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Cody, at the Park County Library’s Grizzly Hall. A second meeting follows at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19, at Big Horn Federal Bank.

Game and Fish officials are encouraging the public to attend the meetings to share information, observations and ideas related to hunting seasons as the region begins to develop proposals for 2020 hunting seasons.

“The meeting will provide hunters with an open forum to visit with regional wildlife biologists and game wardens about their 2019 hunting season experience and give hunters a chance to have  input into proposals for the 2020 hunting seasons before the formal proposal process is started,” said Cody area wildlife biologist Tony Mong.

“These meetings are a great opportunity for folks to let us know what their hunting experience was like during the 2019 season and provides Game and Fish with another key piece of data that can help determine if any changes for the 2020 hunting seasons need to be explored,” Mong said. “We encourage the public to attend and get involved in the management of their wildlife.”
