William ‘Bill’ James McRann

William “Bill” James McRann, 86, died on Feb. 16, 2017, at Help for Health Hospice Home in Riverton.

He was born on Oct. 9, 1930, in Nisland, South Dakota, son of Hubert Guy and Laura (Matthesen) McRann.

On Nov. 7, 1951, he married Lola Mae (Neisess) McRann in Newell, South Dakota.

Bill lived in Hulett, Cheyenne, Powell, and Cody. He also lived in Mesa, Arizona, Texas, Germany and Alaska.

Bill worked as an art educator as well as a business owner. He was awarded Teacher of the Year from Powell, the State of Wyoming and also in Germany and Alaska. Bill’s students won numerous local and state awards.

He enjoyed spending his time hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, traveling and attending art shows and galleries.

Bill was a member of the Congregational Church, Elks, Masonic Lodge #6 and Eagles Clubs.

Survivors include his wife, Lola McRann of Riverton; sons, William James McRann, Jr., Michael Guy McRann and his wife, Lynn; daughter, Sheree McRann Vredenburg and her husband, Matthew; sister, Louise Radtke; six grandchildren, Collin and his wife, Tania McRann, Chad McRann, Colton McRann and Kaitlyn McRann, Ryan Vredenburg and his wife, Amanda Vredenburg, and Kira Vredenburg Davis and her husband, Kris Davis; three great-grandchildren; and great friends, Steve and Carol Zawacki and the great faculty at Powell High School.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Jane Varjabedian, and brother, Lawrence McRann.

Services will be held in the summer of 2017.
