Tom Morrison of Cody died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at the Billings Clinic in Montana. He was 69.
Tom was born in Elkton, Maryland, on May 23, 1947, to Vera and John (Jack) Morrison of Dover, Delaware. During his childhood, he traveled to many countries as an Air Force “brat” since his dad devoted his life to the armed services.
He began his work in radio at a young age, on May 14, 1964, as a junior in high school. He graduated from Wesley College in Dover. He later married his wife, Evelyn, and gained a son, Joe. They moved to Wyoming in 1975.
During his career in Cody, Tom started the “Speak Your Piece” program at the Big Horn Radio Network. He had done a similar show in Dover. Tom saw many changes in the business through the years, and retired on May 14, 2014, after being in radio for 50 years to the day.
Tom’s hobbies included playing pool, camping on the North Fork of the Shoshone River, watching NASCAR and the Denver Broncos. His quiet ways and quick wit will be missed by his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Cody; stepson Joe Thomas (Tracy) of Meeteetse; granddaughter Stormi Thomas of Missoula, Montana, and Tanner Thomas (Payton) of Cody.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held Friday, Nov. 4, at 10 a.m. at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody.
