(April 9, 1942 - Feb. 17, 2017)

Karl Hanson, a dearly loved man, died on Feb. 17, 2017, after a long and valiant battle with Parkinsons, under the care of his loving wife and staff at Powell Valley Healthcare. He was 74.

Karl was a quiet, humble man, who did not need a lot of recognition, but to all those who knew him, he was special in many ways.

He faithfully served his country for three years in the Army, driving munitions trucks in Europe. He was kind, considerate, and although he wasn’t a champion rodeo cowboy, Karl was known for being able to rope whatever he aimed for. Although he was never a wealthy businessman, he always worked hard and provided for his family.

Karl was born in 1942 and lived a full life, working as an electrical lineman his entire career. He enjoyed projects, working in his shop, and taking care of and tending to his land, which he cared so much about.

In 2002, he started attending South Fork Baptist Church, and while attending, he saw the need to give his life to Jesus Christ and receive him as personal lord and savior. He was baptized soon after and became a faithful attendee, until Parkinsons made it too uncomfortable for him to keep attending.

After battling Parkinsons for many years, his family takes comfort knowing Karl is now in the presence of his precious savior, Jesus Christ, where there is no more disease and no more heartache.

He was a wonderful husband, dad, grandfather, brother and friend, and will be missed.

Karl is survived by his loving wife, Beth; son Kelly and daughter-in-law Michelle of Riverton; daughter Vicky and son-in-law Fred Boyles of Nevada; brothers Sheldon and Herb; sisters Velma, Phylis, Karin and Sonja; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren, as well as many other family members and friends.

Graveside services will be on Tuesday, Feb. 21, at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Cody. An online memorial is available at www.BallardFH.com.
