(Nov. 13, 1919 - Jan. 5, 2017)
Johnavieve Hamilton died Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017, at Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody. She was 97.
Being a pragmatist, Johnavieve decided a long obituary was not what she desired. The last time she could share her love for God and her desire for others to know Him would be in her obituary. She wanted to share John 14:6, which reads, “I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Johnavieve was a widow for 61 years, having been preceded in death by her husband Myron Hamilton.
Johnavieve is survived by her son Steve (Diane) Hamilton of Gillette and daughter Jonene (Patrick) Geile of Cody; granddaughter Amy Geile of Tacoma, Washington, and a grandson Brian (Emily) Geile of Tacoma. She is also survived by a step-grandson Marcus (Jennifer) Taylor of Salt Lake City, Utah; and four step great-grandchildren, Kaya and Kali Whalen of Tacoma and Chloe and Ryland of Salt Lake City.
Services will be on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Cody. Interment of ashes will be at a later date in Casper.
Memorial donations may be made to First Presbyterian Church, 2025 23rd St. Cody or Spirit Mountain Hospice House, 808 Canyon View Dr., Cody, 82414.
Ballard Funeral Home of Cody has been entrusted with the arrangements.
