Donald Lee Hammontree of Powell died at his home on May 21, 2017. He was 87.

Donald was born Feb. 11, 1930, in Elk Basin to Carl and Bessie (Estes) Hammontree.

He attended the University of Wyoming, receiving a bachelor of science degree in petroleum engineering.

From 1950-52, Donald served in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Fannie Sue (Durham) on Aug. 24, 1952, in Clovis, New Mexico.

During Donald’s 30-year career with Amoco, he lived in Wyoming, Colorado, Montana and a highlight was six years in Cairo, Egypt.

He enjoyed golfing, traveling and being a snowbird to Arizona. Favorite trips included taking a train to the East Coast and ALCAN Highway.

Donald was preceded in death by his parents and sister Frances Ann.

He is survived by his wife Sue; daughters Linda (John) Glines of Kearns, Utah, Karen (George) Holcombe and Cheryl Hammontree, all of Powell; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 26, at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell.

Thompson Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
