Corrie Lee Lovercheck

Corrie Lee Lovercheck, 82, died peacefully at the Thermopolis Rehabilitation and Care Center on May 25, 2017.

Born Sept. 14, 1934 in Powell, he was the oldest child of Corrie and Norma (Richards) Lovercheck. He grew up in Powell and graduated from Powell High School in 1953. He attended college from 1953-57. 

Corrie served in the U.S. Army from September 1958 to June 1961. He then attended the Illinois College of Optometry in Chicago, graduating in 1964. He practiced optometry in Jackson until 2001 when he retired and moved to Thermopolis. 

Corrie married Ida B. McKinney of Tacoma, Washington, in 1961. They had three children: Dara, Corrie (C.B.) and Lahnay. The couple later divorced.

He married Adelaida “Honey” (Loseo) Lovercheck in 1987 and adopted her daughter Melannie.

While in Jackson, he served and held offices on the Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club. He was a member of the Wyoming Optometric Association and also served as the secretary of the Wyoming Board of Examiners in Optometry. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jackson and later the First Baptist Church of Thermopolis.

Hobbies included Ham Radio operator WA7LOW, woodworking and camping. He also had his pilot’s license and owned his own airplane.

Corrie is survived by his wife Honey of Thermopolis; former wife Ida Lovercheck, Bend, Oregon; brother Larry (Trina) Lovercheck Palo Alto, California; sister Joyce (Mike) Kelley Thermopolis; daughter Dara (Jeff) Ross, Kalispell, Montana; son C.B. (Kirsten) Lovercheck, Pendleton Oregon; daughter Lahnay (Alan) Hanson, Bend, Oregon; daughter Melannie Lovercheck, San Diego; grandchildren Jason, Robert, Lily, Hunter, Luke, Kelsey and Reilly; great-grandson Blake; and many nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 2, at First Baptist Church, 310 S. 6th St. Thermopolis, with Pastor Harvey Seidel officiating.
