(March 12, 1925 - March 1, 2017)
Charles Alexander Blackstone, 91, of Cody, died at West Park Hospital’s Long Term Care Center on March 1, 2017.
He was born on March 12, 1925, in Cody, to Bernie and Jesse Blackstone. He lived with his siblings Helen, James, Charlotte, and Marjory on the family homestead up Sage Creek. He soon gained a love for horses and rodeo.
Many may have met him shoeing horses, at a horse sale, at the Cody Nite Rodeo, as a parade marshal during the Fourth of July Cody Parade or at the summer team penning series at his house. Charles took pride in his saddle, truck, buckles he had won, horses, dog and being inducted into the Wyoming Cowboy Hall of Fame. Anyone going to visit him may find him enjoying the outdoors or reading an agricultural newspaper. He would always send you on your way with a wave of the finger as a farewell.
He lived a long and full life with his late wife Edith “Lennon” Blackstone.
Charles will be greatly missed by the many nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends he leaves behind.
Graveside services will be held Friday, March 10, at 2 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery in Cody. A celebration of his life will follow at the Boot and Bottle Club. Donations can be made in his name to the Wyoming 4-H Program or any other organization of your choosing.
Ballard Funeral Home has been entrusted with the services.
