Cecil Scott, a resident of Cody, died on the morning of Sunday, Oct. 23, 2016, at Spirit Mountain Hospice Care. He was 89.

He was born Dec. 25, 1926, in Twila, Kentucky, to Crocket and Mary Scott. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII as a sharpshooter and military police.

After attending Commercial Trades Institute and Diesel Mechanic School in Chicago, he married Ruby Saylor of Harlan, Kentucky, on Feb. 1, 1949.

They then moved to Detroit, and became very involved in church ministry in the Church of God of Prophecy and now Church of God. Serving as pastor, they ministered in Kentucky, Wyoming, Montana, Washington, and Arizona. Cecil also owned the Lindsey Soft Water business in Cody for several years.

Cecil is survived by a brother Howard Scott and sister Irene Scott, both of Michigan. Cecil and Ruby had two children, Cecil Wayne Scott of Red Lodge and Diane Shroyer of Cody; two grandsons, Jason Thomas Scott of Cody and Shannon Wayne Shroyer of Washington; and seven great-grandchildren.

His memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Ballard Funeral Home in Cody. Rev. Gary W. Shroyer will officiate. Burial will immediately follow the service at Riverside Cemetery.
