Brenda Ann (Guthrie) Hewitt, 59, of Casper, died on Sept. 24, 2016, after years of debilitating health issues.

Brenda was born on Sept. 18, 1957, in Powell to Art and Marie Guthrie. She was their fourth child, joining older siblings, Linda, Jerry and Rick.

She graduated from Powell High School in 1976, attended Northwest Community College in Powell and then moved to Casper in 1980. Brenda worked as a secretary for Marathon Oil Company before her career at Wyoming Medical Center in Patient Accounts, spanning 25 years.

Brenda was married to Richard Hewitt and they welcomed daughter Kelsey Michelle who joined older step-siblings Bryon and Becky. Brenda and Rich later divorced.

Brenda treasured her two grandchildren. She also enjoyed family festivities, reading, needlework, sewing, playing bingo and many pets she had over the years. Brenda was an active member of Highland Park Community Church and attended Women in the Word Bible study. Because of her profession of faith, she now has the promised life with her Savior Jesus Christ.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.

She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Kelsey and Jeremy Nelson; granddaughter Kaydence; grandson Jarrett all of Douglas; sister, Linda (Larry) Kloster, Casper; brother Jerry (Kathy) Guthrie, Houston; and brother Rick (Deana) Guthrie, Meeteetse; as well as nieces, nephews, and extended family.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 29, at Highland Park Community Church Chapel, 5725 Highland Drive in Casper, with Pastor Don Bergstrom officiating.

Burial of her cremated remains next to her parents will take place at Crown Hill Cemetery in Powell at a later date.

Memorial donations may be given to Casper Humane Society, Central Wyoming Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice.
