Anneke Jane VanHorne Scott, 77, of Cody, died Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

Anneke and her twin brother were born at home on Christmas Day in 1939 on the family farm near Powell.

She attended school in Powell and was active in her local church, where she gained a lifelong passion for music, honing her talent to the skill level necessary to serve as church pianist well into her 60s.

As a teenage she met and married Lloyd Scott, and remained at his side until his death 52 years later.

Together they had three sons and made their home in Cody. She was an accomplished baker and gardener raising, canning and preserving more than enough food to sustain her family for the entire year. She was a friend to everyone she met and was always “Nanny” to their children.

Her bright smile and contagious laughter will be greatly missed.

She is preceded in death by her parents George and Erma, and her older sister Georgia Mae.

Anneke is survived by her twin brother Bill; sisters Wilma and Edna; three sons; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Ballard Funeral Home on Saturday, Jan. 7. Anneke will be buried next to her husband at Riverside Cemetery.
