More kids at Powell Middle School want to run.

Rather than signing up for volleyball, football or simply sitting on the couch after school, more middle-schoolers have signed up for cross country in recent years.

 

On Monday, the Powell Little League Junior All-Star baseball team will host the opening round of the state tournament, playing Big Horn at 6 p.m. They’ll play at the juniors’ field, just west of the field used by the Powell Pioneers Legion team.

Pioneers collect another win in Billings

Another weekend of baseball brought another win for the Powell Pioneers baseball team.

Two high school athletes who grew up in Powell were recognized as the best in Wyoming this year.

Continuing a tradition started in 1919, the four-day Cody Stampede Rodeo brought the top performers to Park County this past week — including eight reigning world champions across seven events. Between Saturday and Tuesday, more than 800 contestants competed in their respective events for the title of champion.

Just days from the grand opening of the Beck Park Bike Park in Cody, critiques are coming in on the park. These reviews aren’t from the organizers or local community leaders thrilled to have the new park open and drawing crowds. The reviews are from more important voices — the kids who have made the park a second home.

Ty Wallace won the Cody/Yellowstone Xtreme Bulls Friday night, building upon the best season that the 23-year-old bull rider has had to date.

Established in 2004, the Ragnar Wasatch Back Relay is a grueling test of endurance — an overnight relay race of nearly 200 miles through the Wasatch Mountains in Utah.

Richard Avoletta didn’t start competing in triathlons until the age of 50, when he set a goal of competing in one triathlon in all 50 states.

The Powell Pioneers baseball team won its second game of the season on Tuesday night, beating conference opponent Riverton in the team’s final home game.
