Big first half by Braves too much to overcome

The Powell Panthers football team traveled to play the No. 1 team in the state Friday and found Star Valley to be all they could handle, losing 40-7 in Afton.

Merritt and Kolpitcke earn All-Conference

A pair of Powell High School cross country runners earned All Conference honors at the 3A West Regional Invitational on Friday. Kayla Kolpitcke and Alan Merritt picked up the honors with their fourth and sixth place finishes on the girls’ and boys’ sides of the invite, respectively.

Wins over Golden Eagles, Eastern Wyoming propel Lady Trappers to top of division

After a sluggish start to begin the season, the Northwest College volleyball team has been on a tear of late, winning six of its last seven matches to storm their way toward the top of the Region IX-North standings.

Trappers sweep season series

On a day when the Northwest College men’s soccer team honored its sophomores, two came up big as the Trappers held off the Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles 2-1.

The Powell High School volleyball team went 1-3 at the Conference Duals Tournament in Mountain View on Friday and Saturday.

In what was billed as a matchup of the state’s No. 1 offense against the No. 1 defense, the Powell Panthers football team struggled offensively, falling 26-7 to Green River.

Panthers finish third, Lady Panthers run to fourth

Over 400 long distance runners from 12 different schools descended on Powell Friday to compete at both the high school and middle school levels at the Pinnacle Bank Powell Invitational cross country meets, concluding their regular seasons.

For soccer midfielder and Newcastle, England, native Jay Younger, it was former Trappers head coach Rob Hill who convinced him to give Northwest College a shot.

NWC Volleyball goes 2-1 at home

Lady Trappers now 4-1 in conference play

The Lady Trappers volleyball team hosted three games at home over the past week, earning conference victories over Sheridan College and Miles Community College, but falling to Casper Casper College in a five-set thriller.

Northwest men ranked second in Big Sky Region, women fourth

Closing out the fall portion of its season in style, the Northwest College men’s rodeo team won the University of Montana — Western Rodeo in Dillon, Montana; the NWC women, meanwhile, placed fifth.
