Panther swim team dives into season

The Powell High School boys’ swim team will dive into the 2017-18 season at home on Friday in a triangular against Worland and Cody at 5 p.m.

Lady Trappers go 1-1 at Idaho Invitational

The Northwest College women’s basketball team saw mixed results at the College of Southern Idaho Tournament in Twin Falls, Idaho last week. The Lady Trappers faced off against Arizona Western, losing 58-55, on Friday, Nov. 24, and rebounded Saturday to beat Tohono O’odham Community College, 113-56.

Trappers split pair at Lion’s Club Classic

The Northwest College men’s basketball team barely had time to digest Thanksgiving dinner before hitting the road Friday, competing in the Lion’s Club Classic in Sheridan.

Five members of the Powell High School football team have been honored for their contributions to the Panthers’ recent season.

Powell High School senior Aspen Aguirre finished last summer’s Cody Nite Rodeo season in fourth place in barrel racing; she jumped up two spots after entering the season-ending finals ranked sixth.

Gines brothers pursuing rodeo dreams

The Junior National Finals Rodeo begins next week and both Caden and Casen Gines — the sons of Colby and Codi Gines — will be participating in the second annual event. Caden will ride in the miniature bucking bulls competition and Casen will participate as a rodeo clown.

Karst makes All-American in wrestling

Powell’s Reese Karst earned All-American honors at the National High School Coaches Association Folkstyle Wrestling National Championship tournament in Virginia Beach, Virginia, last spring.

Trappers lose lead, game to LCCC

In the first half of Tuesday night’s home game, the Northwest College men’s basketball team built up a double-digit lead against Laramie County Community College. However, due to what their coach saw as a lack of effort in the second half, the Trappers ended up losing the game, 84-80.

Northwest College’s wrestling team lost a Friday dual to Western Community College in Rock Springs, 30-15.

Lady Trappers go 3-1 at home, on the road

 

The Northwest College women’s basketball team recently won three of its last four games, with the single loss coming in overtime to North Idaho College, 67-64.
