Panthers fall to Lander, rout Pinedale Wranglers
Cragoe scores season-high in win
Fast starts in back-to-back games led to two very different results this weekend for the Powell Panthers boys’ basketball team.
The Panthers routed the Pinedale Wranglers on Saturday 68-36 less than 24 hours after falling to the Lander Tigers 55-41.
All joking (aside): To be taken literally
A few weeks ago, as I’m sure no one noticed, my column title changed from “Culture Shock” to “All joking (aside).”
The rebranding of my tiny corner of the newspaper was necessary as I learned from both time and reader reaction.
Panther swimmers keep getting faster
With the boys’ swim season past its half-way point, the focus of swimmers is changing from qualifying to improving personal best times.
Eight Powell Panthers recorded new personal bests and one added his name to the list of qualifiers Saturday during Powell’s third-place finish in the Worland Invitational.
Panthers pound Warriors
Boys 4-1 in past five games
The Powell Panthers boys’ basketball team rebounded from its Saturday loss against Riverton by routing the Worland Warriors 68-35 Tuesday night.
The road win was the Panthers’ fourth victory in five games since coming back from the holiday break.
PHS Defense denies Cody
Panthers basketball splits weekend homestand
If the Powell Panthers boys’ basketball team could have won only one of their two games this weekend, it would have been against the conference rival Cody Broncs.
That’s exactly how things played out as Powell’s boys’ basketball team went 1-1 over the weekend, improving its conference record to 4-1 and remaining .500 overall at 5-5.
‘Another banner for Parkside’
It’s been a banner year for Parkside Elementary School and its principal, Kenny Jones. A banner year in the most literal sense.
Four months after his school was named a National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Department of Education, Jones was named Wyoming’s 2013 National Distinguished Principal by the Wyoming Association of Elementary and Middle School Principals.

All joking (aside): Could you take that outside?
Unless you’re talking to a child, there’s no reason to labor the point of why one shouldn’t smoke. A lot of us do a lot of things that we know we shouldn’t. If the anti-smoking argument was a horse, some Southside student would be using it to hold glitter to construction paper.
Powell adds official Special Olympics team
For two weeks following the state Special Olympics Fall Games in Casper, several members of the Powell Panthers Special Olympic team could be seen wearing their medals in the halls of their schools.
