Dear reader, I am writing this column to you posthumously.

No, I’m not dead, but I am no longer a writer for the Powell Tribune, and I’m not quite sure what the right term is for that. You see, I’ve never been much of a words guy.

Three Powell Pioneers players were named to the Wyoming American Legion Class A All-State team, as voted on by the league’s coaches.

Hayden Cragoe and Cory Heny were named to the first team while Brendon Phister was named to the second team. Cragoe and Phister received the honor following their final Legion seasons while Heny may return in 2015.

Head coach Rob Hill has no idea who will comprise the starting lineup of Northwest College’s men’s soccer team, and he’s really excited about that.

“I’m going to have a really, really difficult time picking a starting team,” Hill said. “Right now that’s how good our squad is.”

PHS officials announced last week that Buck would be the interim head football coach of the Panthers. Buck will step into the void left by the late Jim Stringer, who died July 18.

Pioneers steal second at state

American Legion team ends season winless versus champion Cody 

The Powell Pioneers beat Laramie twice and Green River once to reach the championship game and take second place at the Class A American Legion State Tournament over the weekend.

DENVER — Registration is open for the Colorado-Wyoming Chapter National MS Society’s annual Bike MS Wyoming, presented by Toyota, which takes place Aug. 16-17.

The first round of the 2014 American Legion Single A State Baseball Tournament was postponed until today (Thursday) due to rainy weather in Laramie.

The Powell Pioneers will begin their bid for a state title today at 7 p.m. against the host Laramie Rangers. The game was originally scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday.

NEW ORLEANS — The University of Wyoming men’s and women’s track and field teams continued a successful 2013-14 season last week, as both were named as United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Academic teams. Seven Wyoming student-athletes also earned individual All-Academic honors from the organization.

KANSAS CITY — Two members of the 2013-14 University of Wyoming basketball team, Jack Bentz and Aaron Tyser, have been named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Honors Court for their work in the classroom during last season.
