Team rallies from two back to beat Douglas
The Powell Panthers battled back from a two-goal second-half deficit, then shrugged off a game-tying goal in the final seconds of regulation to prevail 5-4 in overtime over Douglas. The victory advances the Panthers to the quarterfinal round of this week’s state soccer championships in Jackson.
PHS Team opens state soccer against top-ranked Jackson
The Powell Panther girls’ soccer team took care of business on Saturday in Worland, posting a 4-0 shutout of Newcastle and earning a place in the state 3A quarterfinals on Thursday in Jackson. The Panthers will open against the state tournament hosts at 2 p.m.
Teams jockey for position at state
Track and field competition begin the push into the postseason this weekend as the Powell High School Panthers travel to Lander to compete in 3A West regional competition. For head coach Scott Smith, it could be one of the more intriguing regional meets in recent memory.

Dana Bjorhus, a multi-sport standout for Thermopolis High School, has signed a letter of intent to play women’s basketball for the Northwest College Trappers next season. Bjorhus comes to Powell after a highly decorated prep athletic career.

Brittney Henderson knew at an early age where her passion lay. Introduced to competitive cheer at the age of 9 while living in California, Henderson immediately embraced the activity.
PHS Boys’ game postponed again
The Powell girls’ soccer team survived 40 minutes of nearly non-strop pressure unscathed in the first half, then took advantage of a howling north wind to complete a regular-season sweep of Worland with a 2-0 victory on Monday. The win came on Senior Night for the Panthers.
