The Crimson Tide rolled over the dreams of so many Notre Dame Fighting Irish fans who had actually deluded themselves in the weeks-long buildup to the contest into thinking an actual national title game might break out.

Northwest improves to 3-1 in Region IX North

The Northwest College women’s basketball team returned to Region IX North action on Saturday with a well-rounded 90-74 win over Little Big Horn College at Hank Cabre Gymnasium. The win improves the Trappers to 3-1 in regional play and 10-8 overall.

As the summer calendar gave way to fall, Powell found itself as the center of focus in both the state and national sports scene. Much of that excitement was stirred by the gridiron efforts of the Panther football team.

Trapper women fall in Florida

Team resume Region IX play at home Saturday

The Northwest College women’s basketball team dropped a pair of holiday games in Florida, falling 73-66 to Division II’s 11th-ranked Community College of Rhode Island and 70-54 against Palm Beach Community College. The losses give the Trappers a 9-8 overall record to begin 2013.

The hierarchy of Class 3A wrestling underwent its first significant change of the season in the wake of the Lander Invitational.

The third-ranked Powell High School wrestling team suffered a narrow loss to 3A rival and No. 2 Douglas at the Lander Invitational last weekend.

Meeteetse native honored for third consecutive year at NFR

For the third consecutive year, Park County’s Dusty Tuckness has earned the highest honor in his profession by getting named Bullfighter of the Year during the recently-completed National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. It marks the third consecutive year that Tuckness has received the honor.

 

First semester lifts team four places

The National Junior College Athletic Association updated its national wrestling rankings for the first time in almost two months and the change brought good news to the Northwest College Trappers. Thanks to the strength of their first semester performance, NWC rose four spots to seventh in the nation.

The Sports Guy: We’re still here

If you’re reading these words, faithful reader, then the doomsayers were wrong and life as we know it progressed beyond Dec. 21. Mayan apocalypse scholars are taking their seat next to Harold Camping and folks like myself who postponed holiday shopping “just to be sure” are now frantically looking for a Plan B.

Team improves to 9-6 before Florida swing

The Northwest College women’s basketball team enters the Christmas break on a three-game winning streak after defeating Aaniiih Nokoda, 91-38, and the Wyoming/Montana All-Stars, 78-63, over the weekend. The Trappers are 9-6 now overall and 2-1 in Region IX North play.
