Powell library celebrates 100 years next week
The Powell library has been around for 100 years now, with a history of steady growth.
Library staff will celebrate its centennial Aug. 9. (See related story.)
“The first semblance of a library in Powell was formed by 10 women in a cabin used by the employees of the Bureau of Reclamation in 1910,” wrote Cindy Moore, Powell library branch manager, in a letter to The Powell Tribune.

Wild horses will be captured in the Pryor Mountains soon using bait traps instead of helicopters.
The “gather” could begin as early as next week. The last was in 2009, when 57 horses were removed.

Frankie Smith, also known as “Punkintown,” was born to clown around in arenas such as the Cody Stampede Rodeo.
He’s a circuit-riding rodeo court jester, and he’s funny.

It was a flight down memory lane or a learning experience for those that boarded “Grumpy,” the B-25 at Yellowstone Regional Airport in Cody on Monday.
Grumpy is like the planes Jimmy Doolittle’s Raiders flew to bomb Japan 70 years ago during World War II.
