A gallon of unleaded regular gas is cheaper than it’s been in years. Although Wyoming is higher than some states, the price will likely match the national level in a month or two, according to local convenience store owners.

Bill Brewer, a Powell native who served Park County as its sheriff and as a county commissioner, died Saturday.

Brewer, 76, died due to heart complications, according to his family.

Environmental groups are challenging the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision to not place wolverines on the Endangered Species List.

Represented by Earthjustice, they are suing to overturn the decision and have filed three lawsuits in federal district court in an effort to overturn it. They claim the federal government used “contorted” data to make its decision.

This year’s Loaves and Fishes food drive fetched a ton more food than last year.

Wednesday night’s food drive yielded 7,898 pounds of food. The 2013 drive produced 5,884 pounds, said Cindy Balderas, Loaves and Fishes treasurer.

A rollover Wednesday night took the life of a Powell man and hospitalized his passenger.

The driver, identified as Christopher Boswell, 45, of Powell, was northbound in a 2009 GMC pickup on Wyo. Highway 32, approximately 2 miles north of the junction of Wyo. Highway 32 and U.S. Highway 14-16-20 Wednesday night.

Though not widely known, two brothers are convinced the outlaw Earl Durand knocked off a grocery store in 1938, months before his worldwide journey to both infamy and notoriety.

With their edible inventory nearly depleted, Powell Valley Loaves and Fishes is asking the community to replete their stores.

“Our shelves are bare,” said said Cindy Balderas, Loaves and Fishes treasurer.

Bruin trapped in rural Park County subdivision late Tuesday   

A grizzly bear has been captured near the Eaglenest subdivision.

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department received several tips last week about a black bear in the area, but they were unable to track it, said Luke Ellsbury, Game and Fish large carnivore biologist in Cody.
