A recent reminder about the importance of buckling up appears to have been taken to heart by many Powell High School students and staff. Just one week after a school-wide assembly about the importance of seat belts and safe driving, a clandestine survey found the percentage of drivers buckling up near the high school had jumped by 25 points.

The Wyoming Business Council has recommended that the state lend some $9.86 million to help expand Cody Laboratories — though that’s less than a third of the $33.75 million that the company requested.

Multiple equipment problems cause electrical disturbance

A couple pieces of electrical equipment malfunctioned late Monday afternoon, causing a roughly hour-and-a-half-long power outage in and around downtown Powell.

Continuing to improve, the Powell High School boys golf team posted its lowest score and best finish of the season last week, placing third among six schools in a Thursday-Friday tournament in Worland.

Get two more state qualifiers

Another week of competition brought two more state qualifiers and a slew of improved times for the Powell High School girls swim team.

The political ads, mailings and yard signs that spread across Park County in the run-up to the primary election were part of $57,500 worth of local campaigning.
