Cody council awards buyers liquor license over other applicant

Park County’s $425,000 sale of the former Cody library building closed on Wednesday after the Cody City Council narrowly cleared the way for the buyers to turn the facility into a family-friendly restaurant, microbrewery, sports bar and arcade.

A new state fuel tax will help preserve some of Wyoming’s roads, but it won’t be enough to maintain them all.

“Our goal is to keep the good roads good, and the bad roads may get worse,” Wyoming Department of Transportation District 5 Engineer Shelby Carlson said Thursday.

 

A local resident is suing a Powell pharmacy for erroneously filling his prescription for a drug to ward off sleep with a sleep-inducing sedative.

New estimate pegs population at 6,308

Powell was one of Wyoming’s fastest-growing cities between 2000 and 2010. This decade? Not so much, it appears.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates released last week peg the city of Powell’s population at 6,308 residents. The new estimate — which is supposed to represent the city’s population as of July 1, 2012 — means Powell has six fewer people than were recorded here in the April 2010 Census.

If Park County’s pending sale of the former Cody library goes through, residents could say goodbye to an empty building and hello to a new restaurant and small brewery.
