Thumbs up to Tuesday’s Empty Bowls fundraiser, and to the students, faculty and staff at Northwest College who worked diligently to hand-craft 476 ceramic bowls for the event, each a unique work of art. 

A vehicle caught on fire Thursday when a truck — belonging to an electrical services company — accidentally snagged a cable and took down a power pole on South Street.

In the event of a fire at Northwest College, students and employees are instructed to call 911 and activate the fire alarm system; in the event of a shooter at the college, activating a fire alarm is something they shouldn’t do.

After a nearly four-week investigation, the Park County Sheriff’s office has determined that the Powell man who shot and killed a former military dog turned service dog will face no charges. 

But long before the investigation reached its conclusion, people began attacking him with rude, vindictive and threatening comments on social media.  

A recent health care forum in Powell was a good start toward answering questions for local residents about health care options in Powell. 

The Fremont County woman who died of rabies earlier this month was Karen Ann Farthing of Lander, who lived in Powell for 18 years. 

Farthing died Oct. 3 in a hospital in Salt Lake City at the age of 77. Hers was the first recorded human case of rabies in the state of Wyoming.

Health forum to offer answers, information about different health care options in Powell

Powell Docs Talk, a community health forum on Wednesday, will help local residents understand the different services offered by the various health care providers in town. The forum will be held at the NWC Yellowstone Building from 6 to 8 p.m.
