For many of us, pets become part of our families. Whether it’s a dog happily greeting you after a long day or a cat curled up alongside you on a wintry evening, pets are affectionate companions. Given how sweet and loving they can be, it’s difficult to think about all the unwanted animals who don’t have homes.

A musical filled with dancing, courting, brawling, a barn-raising and a shotgun wedding promises to entertain audiences at Powell High School this weekend.

When Jay Curtis applied to be superintendent of the Powell school district, he said it would be his “dream job.”

The Powell school board unanimously voted Thursday evening to hire Jay Curtis as the next superintendent of Park County School District No. 1.
