With the 2016 presidential election still 11 months away, many Americans are already fixated on the race. From Facebook posts to dinner-table rants, so much time and attention goes to national races.

No one in the community should be alone on Thanksgiving. That’s the message from local churches preparing next week’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner.

Rep. Cynthia Lummis, Wyoming’s lone member of the U.S. House of Representatives, opened the door to new representation next year, announcing she will not seek re-election.

One hundred years ago, Red Fox James, a Blackfoot Indian, went from state to state on horseback, asking for a day to honor American Indians. He got the endorsements of 24 state governments and on Dec. 14, 1915, he presented them at the White House.

After visiting 106 local classrooms, talking with 301 people and spending several days in Powell, an accreditation team gave Park County School District No. 1 a glowing review last week.

We have plenty of reasons to love autumn in Wyoming, but many residents eagerly await one particular pastime above all others: Hunting.

Once again, enrollment in Powell’s public schools is on the rise.

From kindergarten through 12th grade, 1,819 students are enrolled in Park County School District No. 1, making this year’s count the largest in recent years.

Bags provided in the mail for city residences

On Wednesday evening, youth will be going door to door, collecting food for Powell Valley Loaves and Fishes as part of the annual fall drive. For the first time in the autumn drive, the local food pantry is providing city residents with a bag for their food donations.

When you live in a rural community in the least populated state in America, shopping options are sometimes limited. But that doesn’t mean you won’t find quality clothes, tools, home furnishings, vehicles, jewelry, electronics, agricultural supplies, gifts and other items at local businesses.
