September 10, 1935 - March 13, 2013

Merlin Stanford Olson was born the 3rd of six sons to Stanley and Gladys (Gaard) Olson on September 10, 1935 in Colfax, Wisconsin.  He left this world on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at the Powell Valley Care Center.

Glenn C. Murray, 89, of Cody died peacefully March 13, 2013 at Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody.

Glenn was born Dec. 26, 1923 in Denver to Robert and Ruth Murray. When he was young the family moved to Central City to work the family gold mine.

The weather may be getting warmer but things will remain cool on the slopes the next two weekends at Sleeping Giant Ski Area.

The fourth annual Rails and Bails freestyle snowboard and ski competition will be held this Saturday and Snowfest will follow March 23.

Gov. Matt Mead on Tuesday approved providing state snow plows and crews to clear roads inside Yellowstone National Park and told communities in northwest Wyoming to go ahead and raise money for the effort.

Andrew Sean Kinkade, 51, was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Feb. 23, 2013, in southern Montana.  Sean resided in Powell with his beloved wife Carol and son Ryan, 10.

Sean was born in Ardmore, Okla., on Feb. 14, 1962, the third child of Emmett Sheridan Kinkade and Melinda Lou McClanahan.

Cheryl Renee Arends of Minatare, Neb., died March 3, 2013, after severe medical problems. She was 47.

Cheryl was born Dec. 31, 1965 in Sacramento, Calif. She was born to LuEtta and Glen Arends. She graduated from Lingle-Fort Laramie High School in 1984.

Lawrence Frank Meyer, Jr., of Cody died from heart failure on March 10, 2013 in Billings. He was 63.

Larry felt like he was in heaven just living in Cody. He greatly enjoyed fishing and camping. He had many friends and was very well liked. Larry will be missed by all.

Lynn Wesley Fross died Tuesday, March 5, 2013 at his home in Powell. He was 85.

Lynn was born at home in Loupe City, Neb., Dec. 8, 1927 to Franklin C. and Minnie (Oltjenbruns) Fross. He was the seventh of nine children.

James O. Howell died Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at St. Vincent Hospital in Billings after a sudden illness. He was 82.

Jim was born in Pingree, Idaho, on June 13, 1931 to Velma “Marie” (Beebe) and James V. Howell.
